Just Starting Out

OK, So I know I said I would post a blog of savings tonight, but I decided to wait until Sunday after I buy the newspaper with all the great coupons in it. I just cut a bunch out just from the local newspaper that usually comes during the middle of the week and there were quite a few good ones! :) So just to start you guys out I wanted to give a few helpful tips. (Most of you may already do these)
To start saving big you should be using the rewards or savings cards at the stores that you shop at. For example, I shop at Stop and Shop, Shaws and CVS. So I use the Stop and Shop and Shaws Rewards Cards and I use the CVS Extra Care Card. I wouldn't shop without them, it's like waisting so much money. So make sure if you don't have a store savings card you go to the customer service desk and sign up or go right to the stores website and sign up there and you will receive it in the mail. Also make sure you get the Sunday newspaper every week. Either get a subscription or just go to a local store and they should sell them for usually no more then $2.00 which is worth it when there are usually $100.00 or even $200.00 worth of coupons in the Sunday newspaper.
Also, don't throw any coupons away! Unless it is something you know you or your family won't eat. Throwing away those coupons is like throwing away real money. You need to get some type of coupon organizer that way you can save the ones you don't use that week and who knows maybe that product in the coupon will be on sale next week and you'll get it for almost free. And try not to be too picky with the brands that you use for hair products, soap, laundry detergents etc.. That always helps.

These are all simple tips but they all help in a big way.

I will post more tips as I think of them in my next blog with all the deals!

Make sure you check back on sunday!

Beginning of Many Dollars Saved

If you love to save money and get great deals on food, cleaning products, kitchen products, clothes etc. then this is the blog for you to follow!

Hello, I'm Amanda and just to quickly tell you a little bit about myself and why I want to do this for everyone...I have been married for almost 3 years now (3 years on the 3rd of February) to the most wonderful man. The first few years of marriage were great but we definitely had our tough times financially. Probably 2 years out of my marriage I was either jobless or barely made any money to help out. For a year we were living off of 12.00 an hour so I really had to learn how to pinch our pennies. I wasn't able to buy a coffee if I was out and about or even buy myself a piece of clothing that was more then 5.00. It was tough...especially being a young woman you want to be able to buy yourself things to boost your confidence and feel good about yourself. So all that said to say that is when I started cutting coupons and finding the best deals in the grocery and clothing stores. I love it! For me it is so much fun to see the savings at the end of the month.
My husband and I both have great jobs now and are doing great financially...for example, just this month we have paid off some of the little debt that we have, also buy a new living room set and put money in the savings. Yesterday I was heading to one of the stores I work at and I drove by a women that was holding a sign that said "WILL WORK FOR FOOD". I'm always skeptical about giving them cash because I'm afraid they will spend it on Cigarettes or Alcohol, but I really felt like I needed to help this woman out. So I was able to go into Stop and Shop and buy this her a gift card and hand it to her and that put the biggest smile on her face. It made me feel so good inside and I was able to do that because God has blessed me and my husband with the finances and the "savings smarts" to be able to have that extra money to give to people who are in need. That's just one example of what you can do because of cutting costs on certain things. I thank my Heavenly Daddy everyday for getting me and my husband through those rough times and teaching me that even when you have it to spend you should still be very careful and spend wisely. :)

So enough said about me! I'll be updating my blog sometime tonight to post my first "Savings Smarts List" from this past week and new savings for this coming week so you can have the Savings Smarts in you too! I hope this has encouraged you to try to save more so you can either put some money into your savings account or help others out or even both...

Everyone have a lovely weekend and stay tuned for my next post.
